TSU student Catherine Stolyarova represented Tomsk region at the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in mogul competitions
In 2013 TSU became a leader among the universities of Tomsk in terms of the number of the scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation received by young scientists and postgraduates. Thirteen postgraduate students and young scientists presented the results of their scientific work and they will receive scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation; the four other candidates under the age of 35 won presidential grants.
TSU opened Russia’s first youth center for supporting national innovation. The opening was attended by a pioneer of the idea of people’s innovation, Professor Anil Gupta (India).
TSU participated in Franco-Siberian Research and Education network project "Environment, climate, continental surface, biosphere", coordinator - Vice-Rector of TSU for International Activity S.N. Kirpotin. The agreement on scientific and university cooperation in the creation of the Centre was signed in the autumn of 2012 by SB RAS and CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research in France).
BI TSU continued its work on the project TACIS TEMPUS "Development of Learning throughout Life in the Assessment of the Impact on the Environment and Environmental Management in Russia – STREAM". The project involves the total of 13 universities and organizations, 4 of which are based in the EU countries. Major objectives of the project are to create a network of coordination centres, the development of modular training programs for various target groups, as well as improvement of the structure of learning throughout life in the assessment of environmental impact and environmental management. Within the framework of the project 18 professors, lecturers and IT specialists have been trained at universities of France, Austria and Italy.
In July 2013 a high-altitude Aktru station hosted the second International Summer School "Natural and man-made environment: relief, soil, permafrost, glaciers, biota and lifestyles of indigenous ethnic groups in a rapidly changing climate. About 40 students, young and leading scientists from seven countries attended the School.
Lasted three year (2011-2013) cycle of activity of large network agreement in the field of ecology and rational environmental management with France «CAR-WET-SIB» - Bio-geochemical cycle of carbon in wetland landscapes of Siberia. The project RFBR-France was won: 11-04-93106-NCRL_a "Phytoindication of structure and composition of the marshes of the taiga zone of Western Siberia using geographic information technologies". Within the framework of the International Scientific Union CAR-WET-SIB with the assistance of the Embassy of France there appeared first post graduates under the dual management: Maria Kolmakova (TSU - Observatory Midi-Pyrenees) and Rinat Manassypov (TSU - Observatory Midi-Pyrenees).
In 2012 TSU was recognized as a leading center in the development and implementation of educational, scientific and production programs for companies and oil and gas geology of Tomsk Region and was awarded a medal of the 13th specialized exhibition-congress with international participation NEFT.GAZ.GEOLOGIYA-2012.
National Research Tomsk State University once again significantly improved its position in the Webometrics ranking of university websites. TSU took 2nd place (after Moscow State University) in the Russian, and 465th in the worldwide (among 20,000 universities) lists.
A joint technological line of TSU and the SAVA association was launched for the production of natural energy drinks. At the core of the drink – a unique plant, grown in the botanical garden of TSU – the Rhodiola rosea.
In 2011 Tomsk State University was among the top 10 universities in the information and communication platforms ranking of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The International Laboratory of Cognitive Studies and Psychogenetics was established at the Faculty of Psychology of TSU. The head of the laboratory is a British researcher, Julia Covas, head of the laboratory of individual differences in learning (InLab) at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
TSU established the Center of the European Union in Siberia – EUCES.TSU developments won gold medals at the International Exhibition of Inventions and New Technologies – ITEX’11 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In 2010 TSU received the status of National Research University, winning the competition for the selection of programs for the development of universities.
And also successfully passed the certification procedure of the European Commission, and once again became a member of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) with the project ‘Evaluation of the policy of sustainable energy investment: towards an integrated approach at the national and international level’.
In 2006 Tomsk State University was admitted to the European University Association (EUA).
In 2005 Tomsk State University have got ISO 9001:2000 international quality standard certificate of National Quality Assurance.
In 1998 by the RF Presidential Decree TSU was listed in the State Code of Particularly Valuable Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.
