Geology and Geochemistry of Mineral Resources

1. Program description: The necessity of creation of the Master's Program "Geology and Geochemistry of Mineral Resources" is preconditioned by growing requirements to specialists who should have deep theoretical knowledge and be capable of solving practical, research and production tasks, working with modern analytical equipment. Moreover, the demand for specialists with good knowledge of modern geoinformational technologies has been growing recently. The proposed Master's Program includes courses which allow to supplement classic geological education in compliance with current scientific and production demands and show the ways of further development of the ore formation theory and forecast of deposits with the use of mathematic and physical/chemical modeling to graduates.

2. Programme objective – train highly qualified specialists in the sphere of geology, mineralogy and geochemistry of metal and non-metal mineral deposits,

with deep knowledge of geology, formation conditions and regularities in distribution of mineral deposits,

Moreover, the demand for specialists-mineralogists with good knowledge of modern computer technologies has been growing recently. The proposed Master's Program includes courses which allow to supplement classic geological education in compliance with current scientific and production demands and show the ways of further development of general, systematic, genetic and applied mineralogy, especially in dynamically developing new areas - mineral physics, biomineralogy, nanomineralogy, gemmology, etc., to graduates.

2. Program objective – training of highly qualified specialists – mineralogists with deep knowledge in the area of study of the material constitution of ores and rocks during prospecting, appraisal, exploration and industrial development of deposits of various resources, also in the sphere of refinement and synthesis of minerals in laboratory conditions,
knowing the current scientific ideas on the composition, constitution and physical properties of minerals, the processes of their formation and alteration in nature, probabilities and methods of study and prospecting, prospects and areas of practical use, capable of analyzing the information received and making justified scientific conclusions;

Innovative Educational MA course program “Nature management and Sustainable Development” ensures professional skills formation for MA course students in the scope of the nature management from the positions of the present-day scientific notions about the sustainable development. This problem enables to solve socio-economic problems of nature management and nature protection. It also gives the ability to estimate the influence of different types of economical activities on natural environment and gives the advanced study of medical and ecological principles of Sustainable development. The program examines nature-resource and natural-ecological potential from the positions of Sustainable development; it investigates natural and anthropogenic landscapes – the objects of practical activities; it gives the solution of ecological problems in the scope of the water consumption, land utilization, interior utilization, forest exploitation, and also this program gives theoretical and practical knowledge about the spatial organization of the nature management and nature protection. The problem grants the formation of competences and imparts professional skills, which are oriented on ecologically sustainable development of the natural environment, economy and society in all the territorial levels – from global level to the local level.

Obtaining of the advanced professional higher education (in MA course) allows to the graduating students to work effectively in the chosen sphere of activity, to possess the general and specific competences, which promote social mobility and stability on the labour-market. FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY

History of Philosophy

This programme is conducted at the Faculty of Philosophy since 1998 and is carried out by the staff of the Department History of Philosophy and Logic.

The programme is aimed at providing advanced research training for students interested in pursuing careers in the fields of research and teaching history of philosophy. Master’s degree students get an in-depth knowledge of basic disciplines, attend optional courses, make reports at the conferences, write articles and participate in grant competitions. Our Master’s degree programme is based on the latest scientific and methodological achievements of our faculty.

At the end of the course, students are expected to take final examinations and defend the dissertation.  Graduates are awarded Master’s degree in Philosophy from TSU. 1. Programme description

The area of professional activity Master includes: responding to problems requiring application of fundamental knowledge in the field of radio - an independent field of knowledge encompassing the study and application of electromagnetic oscillations and waves; dissemination of methods developed in radio physics, on the field of solar-terrestrial physics associated with the study of wave processes in the near-Earth plasma, Radio-physics and optical diagnostics of the environment, the electromagnetic environment.

The objects of professional master's degrees are all kinds of observed physical phenomena in nature and objects with a wave or oscillatory nature, as well as methods, algorithms, devices and equipment, in the areas of professional activity.

Master of the direction of preparation 011800 Radio-physics for the following types of professional activities: research; Research and Innovation; teaching; organizational and management.

Implementation of this master's programme provides research and production practice, which includes a research stage. Research and production practice is carried out at the Department of Space Physics and Ecology, in divisions Research and Education Center "Physics of the ionosphere and the electromagnetic ecology " OSP "SFTI TSU" IAO SB RAS and other institutions.

Devices and facilities of nanophotonics

1. Programme description

Fundamental grounding in the physics of interaction of electromagnetic radiation in the range from ultraviolet to radio waves with different substances gives deep insight into operating principles of devices and facilities of nanophotonics that generate, amplify, modulate and detect optical signals and allows one to develop new fabrication techniques and constructions of wide range of optical devices.

2. Programme objectives

Nanophotonics is the branch of photonics that examine physical processes taking place during interaction of photons with the nanometric objects. These objects are nanodimensional inclusions such as quantum wells, wires and dots. These structures with the reduced dimension are widely used in designing of new devices of photoelectronics (photosensitive elements of photodetectors), photovoltaics (solar cells) and emitting devices (light emission diodes and lasers).

Programme includes aspects of technology, issues of fundamental investigations of nanoheterostructures properties, as well as their diagnostics and device application. Using of nanoheterostructures dramatically changes characteristics of existing devices, making base for the current photonics. Recombination time and quantum efficiency of photodetectors alter significantly along with the widening of spectral range of absorption and emission. It also makes possible localization of recombinating charge carriers and of radiation from emitting structures and increase in internal and external quantum efficiency. All these allow researchers to find breakthrough technologies of creation of new elements for nanophotonics and to considerably change characteristics of modern devices of photonics, optoelectronics and photovoltaics.

Graduates also acquire knowledge in development of computational systems ensuring informational support and automation of diagnostic complexes for different purposes using methods of programming with high-level languages.

Most modern artificial materials and environments are heterogeneous. Nowadays the attention of the science and technology is given to special electromagnetic properties of artificially created meta- and nanomaterials. New functional elements of radioelectronics made from meta- and nanomaterials. They are necessary to energy, engineering, medicine, and chemistry, etc.

Optical and optoelectronic systems

1.  Programme description

The Master's programme focuses on education of highly qualified specialists in the design, creation and use of modern optoelectronic systems. Masters of the optoelectronic know the basic tendencies of development of optoelectronic technology, the laws of optical imaging, video processing techniques, the basic principles and methods of design and calculation of optoelectronic systems, their modern element base. Our graduates are able to apply mathematical apparatus and software for image processing and analysis, to find efficient techniques to transmit optical signals in the atmosphere and an aqueous medium; develop laser technology of environmental monitoring, of the properties of materials and substances that are in demand in industry, medicine, biology and ecology.

Radio wave tomography

1.    Purpose - The programme is aimed at training in radio wave tomosynthesis which includes obtaining three-dimensional image is visually concealed objects using radio and ultrasonic radiation in UWB frequency band for detection, diagnosis and detection of prohibited or dangerous objects.

2.   Programme description - Using radio waves and ultrasound for remote sensing of different environments and objects in the modern world is becoming increasingly important, as it allows without destruction of the studied processes and phenomena receive sufficient information, as well as identify those critical to continue to generate evidence-based decisions on the use of them.

3.   Programme objective - Radio wave tomography as a branch of science is a new direction, which is designed to complement the computer and magnetic resonance tomography in the direction of extending the functionality and information components making full use of the coherence of radio wave radiation. Detection and identification of hidden objects using radio wave tomography necessary for advancement of science, technology and engineering of the Russian Federation "Security and Countering Terrorism", as well as critical technologies "security technology and life of the population and dangerous objects at threat of terrorist activity." The proposed programme is based on the accumulated experience of previous training of Russian specialists in the field of radio-wave physics, but is essentially new, innovative proposal in education, fully meet the essential requirements to increase the competence of trained specialists. "Radio wave tomography" as a master's programme has no analogues in Russia or abroad and is based on the latest achievements in the field of information and telecommunication technologies and supercomputing. These technologies are inextricably linked with the advanced developments in the field of radio wave physics and electronics.

Verification and testing of hardware/software components of telecommunication systems

1. Programme description: “Verification and testing of hardware/software components of telecommunication systems” provides the graduates with the necessary competencies to work for appropriate scientific and technical areas. The graduates are expected have the in-depth knowledge and understanding in the field of data processing and transmission, telecommunications, hardware/software verification and testing, can develop software tools in high level languages including parallel programming. They also should have knowledge about modern databases, cryptography, computer system security, telecommunication protocol implementations and their verification, optimization and testing, modeling aspects of parallel and distributed systems. 

2. Programme objectives

The main objective of this Programme is the training of high quality specialists in the telecommunication area which possess the following competencies. The graduates should have

-  in-depth knowledge in the areas of automated systems for information processing and transmission, modern programming methods including some issues of parallel programming, model based hardware/software verification and testing.
