On February 11 one of the world’s best guitarists will perform at TSU

The TSU Cultural Centre will host a concert "Jazz Strings." Alessio Menсoni, the guitarist from Italy who is considered one of today’s greatest jazz musicians, will perform.

Alessio Menconi began performing with well-known Italian musicians when he was 16, and at 22 he became the best soloist at the competition Gran Pix du Jazz. He began world tours as a musician when he was not yet 30 years old. Menconi now runs his own trio, performs with a solo project, records discs, and teaches jazz guitar at the Conservatorio Niccolo Paganini, Genova.

- Saxophonists, trumpeters, and other musicians often come to us and we haven’t had guitarists for a long time - said contrabassist Askhat Saifullin. Alessio is one of the best jazz guitarists of the world, he is a recognized musician, playing in a variety of ways.

The concert programme will consist of improvisations on various jazz themes and several works of Menconi. The musicians’ performance will be accompanied visually: sandy and light shows. The combination of world-class music and the visual effects will create a unique concert in Tomsk, say its organizers.

With the concert "Jazz Strings" the University continues to acquaint residents with world-level jazz. In October, TSU hosted an international jazz symposium, which was attended by Steve Turre, Melton Mustafa, Tommy Campbell, Rosario Giuliani, and Silvano Monasterios. Concerts of the Symposium were attended by a total of more than 3,000 people.
