The big ice rink on a natural pond was opened on Mavlyukeevskoe Lake

On 21 December one of the largest ice rinks in Siberia on a natural pond was opened on Mavlyukeevskoe Lake. Its area is about 6000m². The TSU student community initiated creating it, and about 100 volunteers prepared it for the opening.

- Looking at today's event, we can understand that together we can do everything - said Ivan Klein, Mayor of Tomsk. - Today we surprised everyone by opening an ice rink on a natural pond.

TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinsky also congratulated all the participants.

- Today's event is an illustration of the fact that when a person wants to do something, there are no reasons why it can be done.

For the opening of the iceskating season the University bought more than 300 pairs of skates and equipped a warm changing room. Preparations lasted for a month: site cleanup, installation of poles and lighting equipment, work with the ice, and creating parking lots and driveways.

- I played hockey as a goalkeeper for 6 years, and I believe that the opening of the ice rink is very cool and useful, because it is an opportunity for young people to be in good physical shape, - Evgeny Popov, a resident of the TSU dormitory №7, shared his impressions  - I certainly will skate here, and will tell my friends and acquaintances.

Mavlyukeevskoe Lake is located along Eushtinskaya Street near the TSU student residential complex Parus (Sail) (per. Buyanovsky, 3a).  Hours: from 16.00 to 22.00 on weekdays, from 12.00 to 23.00 on holidays and weekends. Skate rental is 100 rubles per hour, attendance on the ice rink is free.
