The results of the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe & Central Asia (QS EECA) have been announced. Tomsk State University took 13th place in the ranking, improving its performance in such assessments as Academic Reputation and Employers Reputation.
This year, a new indicator that evaluates the international component of the publication activity of scientists for ranking universities was introduced. As a result, the weight of the results in Webometrics has decreased and also the weight ratio of students and professors, where Russians in general and TSU especially had the best results in the world. Due to the change in the methodology, the creators of the ranking proposed to consider the result of QS EECA - 2018 a new starting point.
- TSU has improved the most important and most significant indicators for us - reputation in the academic environment and employer reviews; in these categories our results improved by 9 and 3 positions respectively, - comments Irina Zholobova, director of the Information and Analytical Center of TSU. – Also, such indicators as the number of employees with a scientific degree and the number of scientific articles are in the growth zone.

It brings together about 80 Arctic research and high-altitude stations, including three TSU bases open to all program participants. Among the scientific associations created under the auspices of the TSU are the international network SecNet, which brings together leading Russian and international researchers studying Siberia and other northern territories.
