Tomsk State University has started an international school in computer science. For two weeks, students from Brazil, Pakistan, and Indonesia will learn to conduct processes of development in IT technologies.
- The development process is a guide on how to properly conduct IT projects, - says Denis Zmeev, a teacher of the school. - And the main idea of our training program is to give people the basis of project management, learning to choose the right development processes and understand their pros and cons.
The training program includes both a theoretical part and practical exercises: business cases, master classes, and performing a student project. For example, during lessons on business cases students will be asked to solve different problems: simulated or real problems that real IT companies had. And at one of the workshops teachers will talk about which errors developers often make during their interaction with the customer and how they can be avoided.
In addition to study, the participants of the school will have an extensive cultural programme. A city tour, a tour of the university, and other activities are planned for them. There will also be a meeting with students of the TSU Faculty of Informatics. The school language is English and all classes, excursions, and other communication are in English.
- TSU constantly organizes international summer and winter schools in the framework of the programme to improve competitiveness, - says Lidia Dmitrieva, head of the International Student Services Centre. - Students from TSU partner universities who passed selection took part in the school. For them it is not only the opportunity to acquire new knowledge, but also to become acquainted with Siberia, Tomsk, and TSU, and exchange experiences with our students.
Volunteers of the student organization TSU-Online assist in the organization of the Winter IT School. It is expected that the School will be held annually and will become a tradition.
