In January 2014, the Intellectual Property Department of TSU Scientific Management began to use the service for electronic filing of applications for inventions and utility models of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, and in 2015 our university has become a leader in this area. We are on the fourth place among the applicants using this service in Russia.
- Inclusion in the Programme for Improving the Competitiveness of the Leading Universities of the Russian Federation was an incentive for the employees of TSU that had an impact on our work - note the Department’s employees. - Compared to previous years the number of applications has increased by 40%, and the objects claimed have become more diverse in their subjects. Also, the dynamics of filing applications demonstrates the increased literacy of researchers in intellectual property and the understanding that the developments need protection and conservation.
The Faculty of Chemistry has held the leading position in the filing of patent applications among the departments of the university for many years in a row. This year the Siberian Physico-Technical Institute took the second place, and the third is the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. Such directions as "Nanotechnology and Materials", "Life Sciences" and "Environmental Management" represent the greatest interest for patenting.
