On December 15, RUR, the publisher of the international ranking of universities Round University Ranking, released the results of RUR subject rankings for 2015. In three rankings TSU entered the top 300 universities in the world and was among the top 5 Russian universities.
Subject rankings consist of six scientific disciplines: natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, engineering and technology, life sciences, and medicine. In each of the six subject rankings 400 to 600 universities were represented, including 27 from Russia.
Tomsk State University has taken following positions in the subject rankings:
Natural sciences - 287th place in the world (4th place in Russia);
Engineering and Technology - 265th place in the world (2nd place in Russia);
Life sciences - 276th place in the world (3rd place in Russia)
- TSU has strengthened its position among the leading scientific and educational centres of the world, as evidenced by the results of the ranking, - said Eduard Galazhinsky, Rector of TSU. - Sustainable progress in international rankings has been provided by the thought-out quality policy of our university. Our strategic objective is to strengthen work in all directions, and at the same time the highest positions in the rankings should not be a goal in itself for us. Our goal is the real development of the University, and all the rest will follow by itself. The fact that we are going in the right direction is supported by increasing in our positions in the ranking compared to other Russian universities.

The ajjgency publishes an international ranking of universities Round University Ranking and deals with issues of the international competitiveness of universities. This year TSU entered the RUR top 200 ranking in quality of education.
