TSU rose by 112 points in the reputation rating RUR

For 2015, Tomsk State University rose by 112 lines in the Round University Ranking (RUR), a world university ranking that assesses the effectiveness of leading universities.

The RUR ranking is based on data from a study conducted annually by Thomson Reuters. As a result, in 2015 TSU managed to rise to the 249th place and became the 4th among Russian universities.

Rector Eduard Galazhinsky said that TSU is involved in RUR ranking for the third year, and traditionally is among the top 10 Russian universities. RUR, he said, is similar to other major international rankings and takes into account the same indicators. The success of TSU this year can be explained by the systematic work to improve the quality of education and research activities.

- During the year we had much-increased publication activity, an increase in the number of international students, and the University strengthened its brand - said Eduard Galazhinsky. - So, we have greatly strengthened our position in science: if in 2013 we started with 400 articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, in 2015 there were already more than 2,000, with more than half in journals of the first and second quartile.

The TSU Rector emphasized that the success of the university in the ranking is to the credit of the entire university staff.

Note that in the RUR 2016 on the quality of teaching, Tomsk State University took the 100th line ranking and became the second among Russian universities on this indicator.
