On October 25-26, Beijing hosted an international educational exhibition, China Education Expo. More than 30 leading universities of Russia, including Tomsk State University, presented at the event. In addition to meetings with potential students, parents and representatives of recruitment agencies, TSU held talks with universities interested in partnership.

The TSU delegation held talks with Central University of Finance and Economics (China), Mapua Institute of Technology (Philippines) and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). The University of Modena was founded in 1175 and is a major supplier of engineering personnel for companies in the region, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati. Now the University of Modena is in 401th place in the QS ranking.

- The University of Modena was presented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sergio Ferrari, who has expressed interest in student exchange programmes, joint research in theoretical physics and new materials, agricultural sciences, chemistry, biology and computer science, as well as TSU’s summer and winter schools - said Artem Rykun, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

In addition, an offer was received from Harald Thomas, the director of the Fashion Design Institute, Dusseldorf (Germany) on organizing joint training of German and international students in design in fashion, management of high fashion and journalism in fashion. The Institute of Fashion and Design is a relatively small, specialized institution with international connections and reputation. Among its teachers is John Galliano, Dior chief designer from 2006 to 2011, and its graduates work in Dior, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs.

- Educational opportunities in Russia have great interest for students from China , especially because of the unique correlation of price and quality. Many universities and companies in China remember Soviet education and feel great respect for it, and the older generation is happy to try to speak Russian, - said Artem Rykun. - The value of such exhibitions is in recruiting and in establishing academic and business contacts.
