On November 21-23, Tomsk State University is hosting the international forum Russian Education as a Space for Opportunities. The forum has opened recently at the Russian Science and Culture Centre in Rome, with representatives of the leading Russian and Italian universities.
The international forum dedicated to capabilities of Russian education is taking place in two countries. On November 2-4, the event took place in India, and more than 200 lecturers, undergraduates, and graduate students from both countries participated. The goal of the forum was to improve the connections between the countries and to establish joint academic projects and programmes.
The forum in Italia consists of four thematic tracks, where listeners learn about academic capabilities of Russia and trajectories of university development and discuss the Russian culture in the European context. Participants can also take part in master classes. The programme also includes poster expositions and photo exhibitions by universities.
"Such a forum is very important to us because we can communicate with representatives of Russian universities in a free format", says Marine Miskarian, a lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome. "We and TSU have history, many of our students were glad to continue their education there. I learned a lot from textbooks written by professors from Tomsk State University.
Sapienza University of Rome is the oldest one in Europe (founded in 1303) and is one of the most rapidly developing universities in the region. This university has been collaborating with TSU for more than 10 years. In 2015 the institutions renewed their agreement of collaboration and agreed to jointly train specialists not only in Russian and Russian literature but also in history, law, economics, regional studies, and computer sciences.
Also, the forum will also include the third official meeting of the Global Universities working group.
The forum is supported by the Association of Russian and Indian Universities, which is coordinated by Tomsk State University and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Moreover, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and Federal Agency for CIS Affairs participated in organizing the forum, as did the Agency for Expatriate Affairs and for International Humanitarian Collaboration.
