Associate Professor, holder of a doctorate in Physics and Mathematics. From 1960 to 1984 he headed the Siberian Physical Technical Institute (SPhTI) and broadened the concept of a university research institute into one embracing investigation-based training. Under his guidance the SPhTI major areas of research developed into new courses, departments, and schools (the Department of Radio Physics, the Department of Applied Mathematics and Cybernetics, and the Department of Physics and Engineering)
The degree was awarded by the TSU Academic Council decision of 16.06.93 for his distinguished service to Tomsk State University.
