The Faculty of Philosophy was opened in 1987 on the basis of the Faculty of History, where in 1977-1983 specialization in philosophy was carried out, and in 1983 for the first time recruitment for the specialty "philosophy" was carried out.  The foundation of the faculty was the university–wide Department of Philosophy (opened in 1947/48 academic year), the first head - P.V. Kopnin.

Personnel: 80 teachers work at the faculty, including 17 professors, doctors of sciences; 42 associate professors, candidates of sciences.
